Luis A. Mispireta MD

born in Lima Perú, attended Medical School at Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Perú, graduated in 1967, come to the USA in 1968 for surgical training for 7 years. Began Practice of Vascular and Heart Surgery in 1975 in Washington DC, 30 years later, retired from Practice of Medicine in 2005.

Married in 1964, has three Daughters, 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He enjoys fishing as sport and cooking the catch. This got him interested in the understanding of food taste, effects of heat in the macronutrients (Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats), and metabolic needs and pathways, that is how our bodies process the food we eat. That was followed by learning the different cooking methods and applying them to the daily routine.

Awards

With respect to awards, they refer primarily to my previous professional life as a Physician, I am no longer in practice, I will list them, but it is to be decided to include them or not after talking about them.

During my training as a Surgeon:

  • Intern of the year award 1969
  • Ernest Gould Award for Outstanding Surgical house staff 1969
  • Chief Surgical Resident 1973

Awards during my professional life, they relate to an effort by my partners and I to bring current surgical techniques of open heart surgery, to places in the world we had contacts with, training nurses, perfusionists (professional operators of the heart-lung machines), and surgeons. Cities visited include Xi’an at the Xi’an Medical University, Cairo Egypt, Lima Peru,

For these efforts Honorary memberships were granted such as:

  • Honorary Vice Chairman of Cardiovascular Research Institute of the Xi’an Medical University.
  • Similar Memberships given in Cairo and Lima Peru
